Mahina MovementMahina taken from the Tongan word, Moon and from the Spanish word, ImagÌne, Mahina Movement (Gabriella Callender, Erica DeLaRosa and vaimoana litia makakaufaki niumeitolu) is a trinity who hail from Hollis, Queens, New York; San Antonio,Texas and Provo/Orem, Utah of North America. Their Cultures (African American, Chicana, Tongan) and communities inspire them to create songs, (music that fuses folk, blues and Hip Hop) poems, dances and/or movement and paintings (sometimes live!) to raise awareness and visibility around political and social injustices, to celebrate and encourage a consciousness, and most definitely, to Represent!

Welfare PoetsThe Welfare Poets are a collective of activists, educators, and artists together since 1990. Through teaching residencies and workshops, through activism around community struggles and through sharp-edged performances of music that incorporates Hip Hop, Bomba y Plena, Latin Jazz and other rhythms, the Welfare Poets bring information and inspiration to those facing oppression and those fighting for liberation.
